There was a big Specialized and Giant demo day at Nant-yr-Arian today so I
headed up there in the morning, had a quick spin around part of the Pendam
trail on my bike, then got hold of a £4k Specialized S-Works Epic and had
a go on that. It was certainly a nice bike, so much easier on the downhills
and bumpy bits with full suspension. Where I normally get bounced all over
the place and just manage to stay in control this just floated over the
bumps as though they weren't there.
Being a very light carbon fibre bike also made it pretty easy on the
uphills.. I want one.. actually, i think I'd rather a different model, but
still something with full suspesion and as light as possible, probably a
Stumpjumper or Enduro... Maybe one day, but for now I'll have to stick with
my heavy hardtail!
After the demo I got back on my bike and headed across to Llyn
Craigpistyll. On the way back I met a girl looking for the quickest way
back to the visitor centre (she was about to go the wrong way along the
road to Ponterwyd) so I guided her back. Apparently her boyfriend had come
off on the Bont Goch descent on the Conti trail and was now sat in Bont
Goch unable to move his arm, She was rushing back to get the car and
collect him. i don't thin she realised quite how far Bont Goch was from the
visitor centre and was pretty exhausted by the time we got there.
All in all a nice easy day in the hills.
